Biron pottery

Description

The region of Châtelet is renowned for its ceramics. Châtelet's stoneware were sold all around the world. It has also attracted great noble families since the 17th century. The tradition became important again just before the First World War, thanks to some potters-finders who were passionate about this art craft. One of these finders was Joseph Biron, who started his own workshop in 1935. After him came his son Willy, then followed by his daughter, whom studied at the « Académie des Beaux-Arts » (Fine Arts Academy) in Charleroi. Since Willy Biron's death, it is Mr and Mrs Clovis-Biron who took over the pottery. They are thus the fourth generation of potters.
