Park of Serna

Description

This site, with its natural charm, offers 39 acres of woods maintained in a semi-wild state, where various animals species ans also a multitude of age-old trees can be found to add to the pleasure of the walker.

Among various other rare species the blad cypress (Taxodium distichum) can be seen. Its principal characteristic consists of a formation of airborne roots (pneumatophores) which enable it to breathe, as this conifer, a native of swampy sites in the United States, loses its needles in winter.

Every year in late April to early May, a colourful spectacle can be seen: the flowering of bluebells wich form a splendid blue carpet.
