Military section in Florennes cemetery

Description

During the night of 14 to 15 April 1943, a BF 513 bomber, with seven English and New Zealander crew members, crashed in the Forest of Regniessart. At the end of the same year, the German military authorities required that Florennes municipality create a square in the municipal cemetery to bury the allied crews of bombers shot down in the area allocated to the base. A pamphlet entitled “An airplane to remember” narrating the story of the Short-Stirling BF 513 has been published and is available free of charge from the Viroinval Tourist Office.
